About Laura C. Enriquez
EDUCATOR ● WRITER ● ADVOCATE
At eleven years old, Laura signed up to play tackle football for St. Mary's of Riverside. As the first female football player in the league, she experienced the conflicts that arise when tradition is challenged. With hard work and grit, Laura became a captain and starting lineman- playing both offensive tackle and defensive guard. The Demons went on to win the 2001 Chicagoland Catholic League Championship, and Laura finished her season by holding the record for most tackles.
The following year, Laura returned for a second season. However, during a tackling drill she broke her wrist. For the remainder of the season, she showed up to every practice and game to support her teammates from the sideline. In the following four years, Laura contributed to the St. Mary’s football program as a lineman coach at the “pee-wee” level.
DEMONS quickly became the #1New Release for Children’s football books on Amazon, and has been featured by various sports organizations, including AAU Sports and Supporting Girls in Sports (SGIS). Laura continues to advocate for and inspire young women through her writing and inspirational speaking events.
